We have observed excessive amounts of salt on campus sidewalks and parking lots. Salt applied that ends up in the grass is a waste and ineffective.

We suggest Edgewood consider the following alternatives:
    *Pre-wetting salt before application
*Use of calcium chloride and/or magnesium chloride is more effective than sodium chloride.
*Anti-icing techniques consist of applying chemicals before frost/snow to lower the freezing point
of water on the pavement. Roads then stay slushy and wet, rather than icy.
