This course is designed to provide students with a background for appreciating the effects of the earth's oceans and climate on human society and the global ecosystem.  The course will also provide students with what questions to ask when matters of private concern or public policy (for example, ocean pollution, global warming, coastal hazard mitigation) contain an important oceanographic or geologic component.

Prerequisites: placement into ENG 110; placement into college-level mathematics; 4 credits.

GEOS 102F5 is a prerequisite for GEOS 103F5.
